We are traveling! Michelle is on her way back from Norway this weekend, and I am heading to Casper, Wyoming, so we decided to celebrate the changing seasons by sharing this post from last year. Enjoy!
The last day of summer is today. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, fall officially arrives at 10:29pm EDT on September 22nd. For many regions of the world this is the beginning of Indian Summer. The days are warm, the light is golden, and the trees burst into brilliant color, making it a wonderful time to go out Camera Walking.
There is so much to explore as you watch the daily changes that appear along your walk. Consider chronicling the changing season by taking photos, create an album, share your them on Facebook or on your platform of choice. Our post a few weeks ago might give you some ideas. Over the weekend we noticed the changes starting to appear. The flowers are fading, and the leaves are turning slightly, revealing the colors to come.
Along with the beauty comes shorter days, cooler temperatures, occasional rain, and with time, frost that can dampen your eagerness to get out walking. With a bit of preparation you can continue your Camera Walking with ease.
Clothing: Wear layers to be ready for the crisp morning and evening air, and for when temperatures warm up. As always, be sure to have comfortable shoes with socks that wick moisture away. If you walk in the early or late hours of the day, consider wearing reflective clothing, so that you are visible to drivers and bicyclists.
Stay committed: Schedule your walking time on your calendar, keep track using a walking log or one of the apps that we recommended last week. Keeping track of your miles can increase the odds that you will stick with Camera Walking.
Goals: Remind yourself of the reasons you are Camera Walking. How good you feel at the end of the walk, that you are doing something good for your health, and at the same time increasing your creativity.
And finally, envision the beautiful shots you will get when you are out Camera Walking during this wonderful season. This is what gets us out the door, so grab your camera and go out Camera Walking and enjoy our changing season.
We would love to hear from you, so comment below, post on our Facebook page, or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
